The importance of public relations and crisis management planning for your business

They are public relations and crisis management planning important for your business? The answer is simple and straightforward. Public relations and crisis management planning is not only important to the company, which are both crucial to your business, regardless of the type of activity. In the hectic and ever-changing world of today, business is news. Plant closures, mergers and acquisitions, unemployment, strikes, labor disputes, corporate expansions, construction projects, construction-related accidents and disasters are often the main story on the front page or the six o'clock news. However, many organizations are totally unprepared, or at least ill-prepared to handle public relations and crisis management aspects of these events. This lack of preparation can lead to many negative and undesirable to you, your employees, your clients and customers, your business and your business and industry sector.

Many companies have always been and always will be in a location highly visible to the public and the media. For example, the building and construction sector is important for the economy, as well as the general health, safety and welfare of the public. The media are very interested in building and construction industry because of potential "high interest" stories that can generate both positive and negative. To succeed in today's business world, all businesses must learn to manage rapid change and crisis, and work diligently to develop strong public relations and crisis management plans.

A general program of public relations is important for your business to: complement advertising, providing search capabilities for marketing efforts, providing functionality for special events to increase company visibility and industrial monitor non-governmental organizations, to communicate the state-of-the-industry to the public, including views on legislation, regulations, economic conditions and other factors and events that impact your company, and to communicate with existing and past clients. A crisis management plan, including public relations aspects, is absolutely essential to maintain the credibility of a company and the positive image of the face of adversity. The company's customers, employees, financial management, supporters, collaborators in the industry, the public and the media need to hear that you are well organized and have the ability to manage a crisis in a very professional manner. The crisis does not afford the luxury of time to pause and think deeply with the specific problem. Therefore, there is a need to be prepared for any emergency happen.I more likely to believe that many crises in the business world, just like in our daily lives, are often predictable. These crises can be managed and can provide unprecedented opportunities for positive public relations. The majority of enterprises are reluctant to prepare for adversity because they do not want to admit that their organization could never be guilty of poor performance or mistakes.

A society that does not prepare for the possibility that some plan can not work or that the conditions of business may quickly change - including changes outside their control - will soon be able to address a crisis and then suffer serious negative effects on business and its image to the public and its customers.

The most critical time for your company, when it comes to public relations, is when a catastrophe, scandal, or some other negative event occurs that involves your business or industry in general. Things can go wrong and not in the best managed companies and organizations. Therefore, accepting this fact and anticipating some crises, the potential damage that the crisis can be minimized. Emergency preparedness for crisis is not only good management practice in any organization, but, in my opinion, is a mandatory practice for any company.

Many companies today have high-risk, high visibility, high impact on the public and our daily life, and high exposure to potential crises. Because of these characteristics, the potential damage from a crisis can be greatly multiplied. A spokesman for the company unprepared, misinformed, or ill at ease, a disgruntled employee, and a victim of a tragedy at a construction site have the potential to do incalculable damage to your business or industry, their comments to the media. Yet there are countless times when a company representative is pushed into the spotlight as an official "spokesmen" with little or no training in dealing with the media, especially in a crisis situation. In fact, when it comes to dealing with the media, most people prefer to be "exonerated" by the task, because they are ill-prepared psychologically and professionally to deal with the media. In today's world, we must be prepared psychologically and professionally.

Conducting public relations activities without a plan would be the same as someone trying to build a quality building project, without plans and specifications or a business trying to manage the growth of their business with no plans. Conducting crisis communications and public relations during emergencies, without a plan and training may be more or less how to commit suicide or at least "for themselves in the foot," because of the potential damage that may arise for your company the 'image, businesses, employees, management, etc. and for the image and the impact on the sector.

If you do not believe that the potential harm that can result from what I wrote above, consider the effect of poor public relations efforts during the TMI accident, the NASA Challenger tragedy, the EXXON Valdez oil spill event, or during the last building on the main site of the accident and the impact of negative image on businesses and industries. Or think about the effect of good public relations activities during the Tylenol incident, odometer rolled back during the incident at Chrysler, or during the rescue of the last incident happened in a construction site and the impact of the positive image of these companies and industries.

It 's time to truly recognize the importance of public relations and crisis management and their potential impact on business. It 's also the time to do something! There is no better place to start than within your organization and industry and professional associations, developing public relations plans, including plans for crisis management, and key employees training on how to deal with the media. With the high risks as they are in your company, do not let the public relations and crisis management to chance or to a "seat of the pants" approach. Make a commitment and start planning for your future efforts and public relations crisis management today. The future of your company and your industry are at risk. With a strong commitment to good public relations and crisis management planning, the results can be enormous. Without a strong commitment, the results can be disastrous....

Presentation skills - Set your meeting room for success

That sabotages your speech before you even start? What causes the audience to tune out? That creates a huge obstacle for a great speaker? The answer is the wrong meeting room setup.

Different room layouts to create different group dynamics. Choose the right format and have a successful speech or training session. Here are the recommended settings room for groups of different sizes and types of presentation.

For an interactive training session with 10-30 people:

Use several round tables with 3-5 people each. I use this layout of the room when I need maximum interactivity. It 's ideal for exercises, role plays and simulations.

It allows participants to the network with the other. It builds relationships and increases morale. When I was training managers to train their employees, this layout built on teamwork and trust in the group.

For a brainstorming session or focus group of 6 - 12 people:

Use a meeting room setup with a single table surrounded by chairs. When I was in charge of training at Telus Mobility, I used this configuration space to schedule. This layout encourages group discussion.

It 's ideal for short (less than 2 hours long) meetings. Keep in mind that some places (like the head of the table) to collect more "power" and give it a higher status. Make sure you are sitting in one of these "places of power" if you are the leaders debate.

For a speech to an audience of 30 + persons:

Use a setup "theater" style with a surface shape of a "V". This is a classic setup for a large audience. It concentrates the audience's attention on you as a speaker. Have the chairs arranged in a slight form inverted "V". You want both arms of the "V" on the stage tilted toward you. This makes it easier for people sitting on the side of the room to see you. Otherwise, they would have had to turn his head awkwardly to see you on stage.

This layout works well for short (45 minute) lessons. However, limits the ability to run interactive exercises and role plays. And 'more suited to training sessions rather than lectures.

So, choosing the right installation meeting room and maximize the chances of a successful speech or training session.

Consumer Credit Cards and Department Store Credit Cards

Many retail stores want to offer a line of credit. But before you sign up to get 10% discount for the purchase and a free umbrella, it is necessary to understand the effect that these may have on your credit cards - good and bad.

"If you apply for a {fill in the name of the store here} now credit card, you will receive a 15% discount on the purchase."

Oooh. Diehard shoppers who do not be tempted?

Lately it seems that every consumer purchase is preceded with an offer to apply for a credit card. Not MasterCard or Visa, but the cards issued with the name of a retail store on them for the exclusive use in that shop. JC Penney was one of the first retail stores to issue credit cards in 1958. Since then, commercial companies have recognized its operating profit to be made to credit cards, as well as the instant punch in the arm of their marketing efforts. You've heard the litany of the Gap, Kohl's, JC Penney, Dillard's, Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Meijer, Banana Republic, The Sak, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales also, and the list goes on and on.

The marketing hook? Discounts for merchandise of the store along with other benefits.

As with most things there are pros and cons for consumers:

ProsDepartment store credit cards can be a good way to establish credit. The requirements for the card details are often less stringent than for major credit cards. Gerri Detweiler, founder of DebtConsolidationRX.com and author of "The Ultimate Guide to Credit," agrees. "A consumer is able to selectively establish a positive credit history with credit cards retail store, which usually have credit limits are lower and therefore easier to obtain." Special funding for the implementation of a detailed file helps sometimes the same score-as-cash deals for large purchases such as computers, home appliances and mobile, which allows you to pay small monthly installments without interest over a period - usually 6 or 12 months. Just be sure to pay the full amount before charging period without funding comes to an end, advises Detweiler. "If payment is not made in full by the same-as-cash at year end, borrowing costs will apply retroactively from the date of purchase." Special Events "savings" Beyond introductory discounts, events, special savings and sales only for holders of store credit cards, there are often awards programs where you earn points for every dollar spent on the credit card store, and then collect the points for, well, earnings.

ConsHigh APRS-flight. Interest rates for credit cards shopping stores are generally higher than credit cards, usually found resting in the upper teens. The benefits do not always outweigh the financial costs, so if you can not discipline to pay off the balance every month, credit cards retail stores are not for you! Lines of credit credit history affect the clerk tells you that if you open a line of credit today, you can get one year of free financing on that couch just bought! "Then, sign me up!" you say. Before you know it, you can have 15 open credit lines, often, these cards are only used once or twice to enjoy the benefits and you soon forget they had in the first place.

Detweiler said to be very selective when you apply for the card details: "Stick to one or two cards required during a period of 6-12 months Anything else is considered a risk factor on your credit report.».

It is a balancing act

So, now that you know the pros and cons, how do you tell if a retail store card is worth its weight? As always, you need to do some 'math.

Find out what the APR rate and add any fees or minimum purchases required for the card. Then compare that with the potential savings shop to make sure everything balances. Do you plan to spend more money than you would normally do to gain the benefits and discounts?

For example, a card may have a typical APR of 19.80%, no annual fee and no minimum purchase. The benefits include a 10% discount on first purchase in-store and 10% discount on first purchase online. You also get free shipping on all online purchases over $ 100. For every dollar that you spend in the store earns a point, when you earn 350 points, you will automatically receive a $ 15 reward card.

This is a nice set of incentives. This is also a lot of debts that you are putting on a credit card in the name of the discounted goods.

If this is a store that frequently make purchases and is expected to pay the credit card balance every month, you can enjoy these benefits in the clear. However, if you carry a balance on your card, do not even bother - because an APR of 19.80% $ 350 trumps a $ 15 reward card each time.

Making math is a lot to do when you're at the counter with a load of new purchases. But do not sign a paper without seeing the fine print and find out what you are signing for. You may remove part of the fun of shopping madness, but in the long run you'll be happier, because you are protecting your credit and the benefits of having good credit - can buy a new home, for example. These things will bring a smile along the way, will be more than 10% off that dress from the Gap hip - which will not be so stylish in a few months anyway ....

Ranches fractional ownership

Fractional ownership, also known as tenant-in-common (TIC) is a form of holding title to real property. Under this co-ownership structure, individuals have an undivided fractional interest in a building and I share part of their net income, tax benefits and appreciation. In addition, they will receive a separate document and title insurance for their percentage interest in the property and have the same rights a single owner.

Fractional ownership is not a new concept. In fact, it was successfully applied to various industries, including yachts, airplanes, luxury condominiums and resort real estate second home. The resort industry is entering a period of explosive growth, and luxury fractional resort products are becoming a recognized and most important component of this industry. According to Omni Brokerage, Inc., TIC real estate investments exceeded $ 4.0B in 2005. Moreover, it has become the preferred investment vehicle for real estate investors who wish to defer capital gains via a 1031 exchange and own real property without the management headaches.

Fractional ownership typically ranges from 1/13th to 1/4th shares. The welfare of the path and the length of the season determines the size of the share. The most recently completed fractionals are located in rocky areas skis, but the concept is spreading rapidly to other popular holiday destinations in the United States national, Caribbean and Mexico and other international hot vacation spots. The price of shares fractional ownership varies considerably and can be influenced by market factors, including unit size, the number of owners, location, amenities and available supply. Stock prices typically range from $ 100,000 to $ 500,000, but can easily exceed $ 1.0M for high end Private Residence Club (PRC).

Some properties can be tailored to the ranch owner luxury resort, complete with high-end lodging accommodations, full service management, and a wide range of services similar to private residence clubs. Other fractional programs can be designed around the ranch operations. These programs provide the owner the chance to live, and play in a working ranch. What to do and effective presentations

Effective communication starts with an effective presentation. From Words, graphics, materials that are used for the presentation - all working together to create the most effective communication vehicle. Both overall finishing like lamination binding, folding or select, or the contents inside, everything communicates, and we recommend that you use all the tools in your arsenal to communicate effectively. To this end, the following are some do's and thing to keep in mind when creating an effective presentation.

The Do's:

1) Know Your Stuff:

This may seem obvious, but research and development of a complete understanding of the subject presentation is the foundation for any effective presentation. Do your homework and you will pay at the end

2) Stick To Your Story:

The presentation should have a purpose in mind and stick to that order, from beginning to end. Ask yourself these questions at the beginning of any development process of presentation, I'm selling something? I convince someone? I'm educating people? Or just entertain my audience? Create your own story and not get off track.

3) "Remember," Books "are judged by their covers:

It may have been admonished to "Never judge a book by its cover", but when you create an effective presentation, you must adhere to a different adage. "Do not leave anything to chance," A professional-looking presentation can push the public towards a positive decision when they see it. Parabolic shells and handsomely bound presentations are the best way to ensure the public will be thrilled to open and see what's next!

4) have a beginning, East (Summary) and End:

It may seem Theme-Paper Writing 101, but "the basics" are "the basis" for a reason - they work! People think, and perceive information in a similar way. It 's only natural for them to follow this model very well known, from an opening that sets the stage for the rest of the presentation, a body which is presented the general topic, a summary of the most important touch points, and one of closure, usually with some "call to action" for the public.

5) Put a photo:

Studies have shown that people learn faster and retain information better when the subject is reinforced with visual elements. The public will have its point immediately with the use of the right eye, making it literally "worth a thousand words." Clear and simple graphics or images used to full effect is the best way to connect with the audience. The way these pictures are presented is just as important as the image itself. Consider rolling to adequately preserve and enhance this important aspect of the presentation.

Failure to do:

1) Do not say too much:

While it may be wildly excited about the subject, not assumes that the public has time to devote hours to reading and absorbing information. Make your points clearly and concisely and move on. There is no reason to use 5 words when one or two are equally effective in helping to tell your story.

2) Do not forget the devil in the details:

From the cover of the presentation, it is binding on the first and last sentences, the details count. A professional look for your readers born general presentation in a way that little else can. After this initial response, however, everything else in the presentation must keep this commitment to quality. Check spelling, grammar and sentence structure over and over again, and not just using the computer spell check or grammar-checking program. Read the presentation aloud to make sure you are saying exactly what you mean - from beginning to end.

3) Stop using the wrong image:

There are many correct ways to use a visual presentation, and many wrong ones. Images that distract too small, too confusing, too complicated, or simply have the opposite effect on the audience you want to create. Good graphics, clear and effective are the best way to go - and exploitation by highlighting the correct definition, rolling or other serves only to make the presentation stronger.

4) Do not always done the "Cheap"

Saving head when you prepare your presentation may seem like a good idea, but think again! Cutting corners by not creating a professional-looking presentation, including everything from cutting, folding, binding, and the creation of coverage, can cause great loss in the long run. If you cut corners on the presentation or proposal, you can cut corners on the project or product you are proposing. Do it the first time and be able to do it again - and again!

5) Do not forget the Call to Action!

Telling the story of your product or service is great - but forgetting to tell the public what it wants to do with this information is a big mistake! Do not miss the opportunity to end your presentation with a simple call to action specific, usually tied to a deadline for feedback of some kind. This will give your "story" the happy ending you're looking for! ......
