5 safety tips to help the construction site
The thought that the yards are prime targets for theft may shock some people, but there are many stories of which the contractors had to recruit specialists in construction safety to prevent vandalism, theft and even physical abuse on their sites.
Trusting people of good character is not always feasible, so that when undergoing a project on a site, may be worth a budget for security services. But before this is done, the idea is probably to fix it yourself with a checklist of safety of construction to ensure that everything has been done before thinking of security investments.
1. Search
First, a member of the building team should research the area, identifying crime rates before and with the local crime news in the area. Identify the 'need' for the construction of security in the initial stage is better than find out later, after the crime was committed.
2. CPTED
Ever heard of the acronym CPTED? Also known as "crime prevention through environmental design." Simply ensuring that CPTED has some form of implementation will deter criminals from venturing on the site. Factors such as lighting, placement staff, placement of storage, fencing and CCTV coverage will make a criminal very aware of the surroundings.
3. Fencing
How robust is the fence? The fence will prevent a criminal to access the site, and at the same time, stop the criminal who takes something? A security fence that has added such as barbed wire, electric wire and the alarm goes off, most likely deter crime.
4. Asset Inventory
Make sure that every item on the site which is considered a 'good' for the company is recognized and assigned to a specific person or group on the site. If an employee is responsible for the fate of a particular kit, then it is likely that he or she will be extremely careful about his where about and the way is left overnight.
5. Contacts
Before starting a project, so the project manager has a full list of contacts, the local police department, fire department and the governing body. It 's also useful for a team member to present on behalf of the contractor to close the site, as the neighbors may also be interested in more security. They can then also identify suspicious characters surrounding the site, to familiarize yourself with them can be vital.
The five indicators listed above can help with your on-site security, but if this is proving too much, then it may be worth considering the services of professional security .......
